Dappled Shade was written during a long, cold winter residency at Intonal Festival in Malmo, Sweden in 2019. All the elements were developed over the course of a month and then debuted live at the festival. The album as subsequently recorded at the Glue Factory in Glasgow. We finished recording in the first week of March 2020, which shelved the project for a long time. Eventually, this wound-up gifting us the opportunity to revise the work over extended periods of time and the big gaps between mixing and post-production processes ultimately forged a clearer, more intense direction for the album. If your favourite word is ‘harder’ then this one is for you.
